Hard/Soft Biocompatible Thermoformable Material
Hard/Soft Biocompatible Thermoformable Material is a professional dual-layer thermoforming solution developed for dental laboratories and orthodontic applications that require a combination of comfort, flexibility and mechanical stability. By combining a soft inner surface with a rigid outer layer, this material is particularly suitable for producing occlusal splints, retainers, anti-snoring appliances and other thermoformed dental devices.
The two sides of the hard/soft biocompatible thermoformable material are manufactured from different materials in order to provide specific functional properties. The soft side, which is generally placed in contact with the dental model, is made from EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate). The rigid side is manufactured from PET-G (glycol-modified polyethylene terephthalate). This combination provides a comfortable inner surface while maintaining the strength and rigidity required for durable dental appliances.

One of the main advantages of hard/soft biocompatible thermoformable material is its versatility. The rigid PET-G surface bonds effectively with acrylic resin, making the material suitable as a base for the fabrication of more complex appliances. It can be used for occlusal splints, retainers and anti-snoring devices, as well as other applications where both flexibility and structural stability are required.
A removable white protective film is applied to the soft side of the material and can be removed during the thermoforming process. The discs and plates are supplied in vacuum-sealed bags, helping to protect them from humidity during storage. After correct thermoforming, the hard/soft biocompatible thermoformable material provides high resistance to breakage, contributing to reliable and durable laboratory results.
Several dimensions are available to meet different laboratory requirements and thermoforming machine specifications. Round discs are available in Ø 120 mm and Ø 125 mm, with both diameters offered in 2 mm and 3 mm thicknesses. Square plates are also available in 125 × 125 mm, again in 2 mm and 3 mm thicknesses. All available versions are supplied in convenient packs of 10 pieces.
For accurate positioning during thermoforming, the material can be used together with compatible Plate holders. Correct positioning helps keep the disc or plate stable during heating and vacuum forming, supporting consistent adaptation to the dental model and improving workflow efficiency.
The dual-layer construction of hard/soft biocompatible thermoformable material combines the cushioning properties of EVA with the rigidity of PET-G. This makes it especially useful when a softer contact surface is desired without sacrificing the structural strength of the finished appliance.
For dental technicians looking for a versatile material suitable for a variety of thermoforming applications, hard/soft biocompatible thermoformable material offers a practical balance of comfort, durability and reliable processing. With different disc and plate sizes available, laboratories can easily select the format and thickness that best suits the intended appliance and production workflow.
